Graphite Futura is an ongoing project exploring how phrases, sentiments and ideas that come from social media and other digital spaces are creating a new shorthand within contemporary language. Words set in the Futura typeface, on 8.5x11 pieces of copy paper, rendered with a yellow no. 2 school pencil. The letterforms are made up of sketchy, imperfect lines, scribbles, and marks creating a contrast between digital conversations and old fashioned mark making with a pencil on paper.
